Two ways we can help

AI Feature Sprint

2–4 weeks · fixed price

Your users are asking for AI. Your roadmap is full. We integrate one production-ready LLM feature into your existing app (chat over your docs, natural-language search, smart workflows) with evals, streaming UX, and the boring reliability work included. Fixed scope, fixed price, shipped in weeks.

  1. Scoping call
  2. Prototype in week 1
  3. Production integration
  4. Eval suite + handoff docs

Tech: Vercel AI SDK / Anthropic / OpenAI, TypeScript, your existing stack.

Modernization Audit + Rescue

1–2 week audit · fixed price

That app that everyone's afraid to touch? We've refactored regulated fintech frontends and cut load times 40%. The audit gives you a prioritized, honest report of what's actually wrong and what it costs to fix. Then, if you want, we fix it.

  1. Codebase + infra analysis
  2. Prioritized findings report
  3. Fixed-bid remediation proposal

The audit is valuable even if you never hire us again. That's the point.

Everything else we're good at
  • Astro, Next.js, Remix & SvelteKit
  • Go, Elixir & Node.js
  • AWS, automation & CI/CD
  • Job boards & ATS integrations (Ashby, Greenhouse)
  • Scheduling systems
  • E-commerce integration

US company. US hours. Without US agency pricing.

JBT is a Wyoming LLC run by a US Navy veteran working from Colombia. You get US contract law, overlapping time zones, and native-English communication, plus full delivery capability in Spanish for LatAm teams.

About JBT

Behind the jokes are 8+ years of production software across fintech, scheduling, and enterprise SaaS, shipped for companies like Appointlet and Bitcoin IRA. JBT itself was founded on a simple idea: serious engineering doesn't have to take itself seriously.

You work directly with the senior engineer doing the work. No account managers, no junior bait-and-switch, no telephone game.

Cody Brunner

Founder & Principal Engineer

Cody has spent 8+ years shipping production software across fintech, scheduling, and enterprise SaaS, including Appointlet and Bitcoin IRA. He's an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, a US Navy veteran, and the maintainer of rehype-code-titles (~4,500 weekly downloads on npm). These days he pair-programs with AI agents daily; agentic workflows are how one engineer ships at team speed. The business cards used to say "Chief Executive Clown"; the lawyers made us change it. When not shipping from his Colombia-based command center, Cody can be found with a cup of coffee in hand and some ribs on the smoker.

Max

Chief Executive Snack Eater

Max joined the team at JBT in August of 2024. He is a full-snack developer, specializing in napping and eating snacks. We still give him a hard time about shipping 💩 to production on his first day. When not assisting the team, Max can be found chasing the birds outside.

Questions people actually ask

What does it cost?

An AI Feature Sprint is fixed-price: $8,500 for a contained feature, $14,500 for multi-system integrations or custom eval work — agreed before we write a line of code. A Modernization Audit is $3,000 flat. When fixed scope doesn't fit, time-and-materials work runs $125/hr. If those numbers don't fit your budget, better we both find out in five minutes than five meetings.

How long does a typical project take?

An AI Feature Sprint ships in 2–4 weeks. A Modernization Audit takes 1–2 weeks, and the report includes a fixed bid for any remediation work. If something genuinely needs a quarter, we'll tell you that on the first call.

What happens after I book the call?

A free 30-minute call. We talk through what you're trying to ship, whether JBT is a fit, and roughly what it would cost. If it makes sense, you get a written proposal within a few days. No pressure, no drip campaign, no "just circling back."

Can one person really handle this?

Yes, because it isn't 2019 anymore. Cody works with AI coding agents every day: they handle the volume, he does the architecture, review, and judgment. Everything that ships passes a senior engineer's eyes. You get the throughput of a small team with one accountable name on the contract.

Do you work with LatAm companies?

Sí. JBT delivers fully in Spanish (meetings, documentation, code review) with the same quality bar. Working from Colombia means LatAm teams get the same overlapping hours our US clients do.

How does the remote development process work?

We start with a discovery call, then work in short cycles with regular check-ins on your preferred channels. Progress lives in your repo and your tools (GitHub, Jira, Slack), not in a black box.

Where is JokinglyBadTech located?

JokinglyBadTech LLC is registered in Wyoming, USA. Cody works from Colombia on US hours, serving clients worldwide in English and Spanish.

Ready to ship?

One call. Thirty minutes. You'll leave with a clearer picture of your project even if we never work together.
